Galleri K, Copenhagen, Denmark

Galleri K mixes the old with the new for a sophisticated shopping experience
Galleri K is one of Copenhagen's newest and most eclectic shopping centres. London-based JHP architects designed the careful restoration and adaptation of a complex block of historic buildings in Copenhagen to create a destination shopping centre for Danish fashionistas.

Situated between the Urban independents of Anthonigrade, the considered bohemians of Kristen Bernikowshade and the Illum department store, 'Galleri K' offers elegant modernism intertwined with traditional architecture. The centre includes a roofed modern retail courtyard adapted to blend in with the surrounding historic buildings.

Steel interacts with stone creating an edgy, contemporary feel whilst modern chandeliers add a sophistication that has attracted 25 individual retailers and a number of businesses to the basement offices.

Developed by AIG Global Real Estate and Keops Development the 15,600 sq m gallery was sold to the Bank of Ireland earlier this year for 1 billion DKK (approx 135 million EUR).
