2008 Architectural Institute of British Columbia (AIBC) Design Awards


Telus House takes top honours at 2008 Architectural Institute of British Columbia (AIBC) design awards
The Telus House in Vancouver Canada designed by Busby Perkins and Will Architects received the top award at the annual AIBC Conference. A total of nine awards were given out including five merit awards, two special jury awards and an innovation award.

Other merit award-winning projects were The Fred Kaiser Building at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver by Omicron Architecture Engineering Construction and architectsAlliance; The Black Hills Estate Winery by Bevanda Architecture; Obakki by mcfarlane/green/biggar architecture and design; Gulf Island House by Measured Architecture; and Metchosin House by Marko Simcic Architect.

The first winner of the 2008 AIBC Special Jury Award was Joe Y. Wai Architect for the Chinese Freemasons Building in Vancouver. Also capturing a 2008 AIBC Special Jury Award was Acton Ostry Architects for King David High School in Vancouver, which represents a modern take on an education setting. One 2008 AIBC Innovation Award was given to Urban Arts Architecture for the project "Expanded Demand for Canadian Wood Products.
