renzo piano has been working on the new california academy of sciences in san francisco's golden gate park for
the past eight years. the new facility houses an aquarium, planetarium and natural history museum in a half
a billion dollar building that makes use of some of the most high tech construction methods and sustainable
materials. included in the buildings design is a two and half acre living roof covering the massive building's
surface. vanity fair has published an article and collection of photographs by todd eberle documenting the
new work. the building's aim was to become the greenest museum in the world and it will succeed when it
open this may.
