Broadway Malyan, London, United Kingdom

International architects Broadway Malyan open new offices in Shanghai and Singapore and Abu Dhabi
International architects Broadway Malyan, who were founded in the UK 50 years ago this April, have opened new offices in Shanghai and Singapore. The practice has also announced the move of its UAE based teams to new permanent premises in Abu Dhabi from where existing and new work in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the wider Gulf States will be spearheaded. The three new offices are part of a long-term strategic plan to offer clients international standards of design and service combined with local delivery and experience. The move builds upon the practice’s existing offices throughout Europe and in the UK where a new Liverpool office was opened at the end of last year. With over 700 staff, Broadway Malyan has grown organically over the last 10 years and now has a global reach. It has projects in many diverse locations including Turkey, Russia, Mauritius, Malaysia and Cape Verde as well as in the countries where it has offices. Broadway Malyan now ranks alongside the small number of truly international architectural practices that can serve international clients wherever their needs take them. The practice has completed work in China and has gained a good understanding of the country. Peter Crossley, the firm’s Managing Director, comments; “The market is robust and very dynamic. We believe that the best way to provide our potential clients there with the most appropriate and inspired design is through making a long term commitment to the country and the wider region and getting even closer to its culture, people, and business environment. The time is now right for us to establish a permanent Chinese presence partnered by the new office in Singapore where many of our Middle East clients have substantial interests and from where we will service projects in the wider region”. The Shanghai office also houses Broadway Malyan's rendering facilities, which will support the whole group and provide high quality 3d imaging and flythroughs. The new Singapore office creates a central hub for South East Asia, allowing the firm to target new emerging markets in Vietnam, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Directors Ian Simpson (Singapore), Stuart Rough (Shanghai) and Kevin Leahy and Melvin Davis (Abu Dhabi) are to direct the new offices, which will provide architecture masterplanning and design services across the practice’s core specialists of residential, retail, workplace, mixed use and hospitality design. Crossley commented – “Broadway Malyan have been committed to international expansion for a decade or more and have all the systems, skills, experience and people in place to do major projects wherever our client’s have opportunities. We see our UK and International businesses as one – working on major international projects helps us to gain valuable experience relevant to our work in the UK, whilst our long track record working in more mature markets means that we have real value to bring to the emerging economies who are so eager to tap into European skills.”
