the new dolder grand hotel by foster+partners

the dolder grand hotel in zurich, switzerland first opened in 1899. for nearly a century, the hotel represented the
pinnacle of european luxury hotels. despite continual refurbishment, it was decided that the hotel needed a full
face lift. foster+partners were commissioned to restore the hotel back to its glory years. the historic hotel's
redesign consists of two modern wings flanking the original building. the new wings feature roof top terraces
and spas, accompanying the luxury suites. the new buildings are clad in a metal skin which is perforated with
an abstract yet natural looking pattern. 'the new dolder grand hotel' will open in april.
