duggan morris architects recently won the the international design competition to design a new observatory in
crosby, england near liverpool. the studio won out over a field of 92 entries from all over the world. the observatory
will join the other two new attractions on crosby's shoreline: 'another place' installation by artist antony gormley
and the planned sefton water centre, a sports and event complex. the observatory is split into two distinct buildings,
a visitors center and observation deck. the squat visitor centre will host a number of amenities and event spaces,
while the observation tower will have an interior deck and roof top viewing space. the final design aims to be
entirely carbon neutral when complete.
